CEU Universities, educational centres with history and prestige

CEU Universities form part of the main private Spanish educational group with over 80 years of history. They are the work of Asociación Católica de Propagandistas (ACdP), an organization incorporated in 1908 by Father Ángel Ayala that lays the foundations of Fundación Universitaria San Pablo. The Foundation has at present 25 teaching centres and was created in 1933 by Ángel Herrera Oria and Father Ayala. They had as goal the education of leaders that would hold positions of great responsibility in the society and started to offer an educational model based on Christian Humanism values aimed at transforming society taking part in public life. Therefore, the institution has three clear objectives: the search of academic and professional excellence, innovation in its educational projects and the education of students in values and human virtues.

Already in 1972, the Fundación Universitaria San Pablo started to be called Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU, that referred to universities and other educational centres of the ACdP. The association aware of the need to educate in Christian values from very early stages created the first COU classrooms. During that same decade they created the academic campus and the first schools. In the 90s they incorporate to the Universidad CEU San Pablo, the Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera in Valencia and the Universidad CEU Abat Oliba in Barcelona which form CEU Universities.

Universidad CEU San Pablo

Until 1993 it was a centre adhered to Universidad Complutense de Madrid being then acknowledged as a private university owned by the Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU. As such, it was officially inaugurated on 22nd February 1994 with the presence of the Kings of Spain. The Universidad CEU San Pablo has a campus in Moncloa, with the degrees of Arts and Communication Sciences, Economic and Business Sciences and Law and another one in Montepríncipe, with Pharmacy, Medicine and the Higher Polytechnic School.

Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera

Based in Valencia and with campus in Moncloa and Alfara del Patriarca (Valencia), Castellón de la Plana and Elche (Alicante), Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera started to operate in 1971 as a centre adhered to the University of Valencia and the Polytechnic University of Valencia. In 1999 it was recognised as university by the Autonomous Community of Valencia, being inaugurated as such in 2000 and opening a centre in Castellón for year 2007-2008.

Universidad CEU Abat Oliba

With over four decades of history, the Universidad CEU Abat Oliba was founded in 1973 as university centre adhered to the University of Barcelona, starting its activity a year later. It was moved from the capital city to the campus of Bellesguard in 1993, being recognised as a private university ten years later. It adopts the name of the Abbot Oliva, a key figure in the repopulation of Catalonia according to Roman and Christian cultures and the political agreements.
