CEU Universities, three innovative ecosystems

Innovation is one of the cornerstones on which CEU Universities work transversally; Innovation applied to any of the areas and tasks of University’s endeavours, from teaching to investigation or management. A road map that has given place to an innovative culture materialized in different programs and initiatives such as for example the Innovation Week, a proposal of Universidad CEU San Pablo de Madrid, coordinated from CEU Emprende.

The Innovation Week is a unique event in the University system combining the best ingredients to create innovation: University talent and the corporate world working together to innovate with a goal. It forms part of this ecosystem of collaboration, provides knowledge, solutions and uses innovation and disruption as driver.

One of the activities organized within the framework of this Innovation Week is the Business Competition. Its latest edition counted with the presence of 330 students from different degrees who developed entrepreneurship projects.

Within the framework of this week of innovation we also host round tables with national and international experts who explain the keys to successfully innovate with real case studies and through workshops on different subjects the attendants learn about the different innovation tools and methodologies.

Innovation projects increase 290%

The number of academic innovation projects carried out at CEU Universities grows every year. Only an example: at Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera of Valencia they have increased 290% in the last six years. The implementation of new technologies to the academic sector, transversal programs, initiatives for the promotion of languages focused on people have been some of the keys of the many experiences in lecture rooms of the University.

Initiatives such as the Awards to Innovation and Improvement of Teaching and Services or the aids to these projects have favoured the proliferation of this academic innovation ecosystem.

This University makes a clear bet on Teaching and Services Projects. Academic innovation projects encouraging prosocial attitudes (effort, responsibility, commitment) in students and their capacity to take part in social life in a positive manner.

In this line we find the project Escuela de Salud CEU granted the Award to Academic Innovation 2017, highlighting its capacity to create new practical learning areas for students which assemble the training in technical competences showing a clear commitment to the improvement of society through education and public awareness.

The Services of Professional Careers  and SOUAD (Service for University Orientation and Disablement Assistance) were acknowledged with the Awards to Innovation in Service by the program Simulaciones Accede.

In this same category, the Awards also acknowledged the transversal initiative 360 Academic Program, a program for operative improvement boosted by professors and administrative and services staff.

Along with academic innovation projects, investigation and services, CEU universities provide their students with innovative teaching spaces: practical lecture rooms, TV studios, innovation labs, advanced simulation centres…

Education Talks, academic innovation

CEU Universities have turned into an academic innovation reference with its transversal application to the academic sector, investigation and management and also promoting it from different platforms and encounters on the matter such as Education Talks by UAO CEU, a platform committed to academic innovation promoted by Universitat Abat Oliba CEU.

The aim of Education Talks is to contribute to the global reflection on new teaching resources and methodologies with the idea of providing teachers and education professionals with a meeting point to hold a debate on innovation in this field.

From Barcelona this University proposes therefore, a colloquium between renowned professionals offering inspiring speeches with quality networking to discuss the future of education and exchange experiences in the implementation of transforming academic models.
