CEU Universities, venue of the next International Virtual Exchange Conference

IVEC 2022 will be hosted in Valencia at one of our Universities: Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera will be the headquarters.

It is the most important international forum of teachers and academic managers of universities worldwide interested in promoting new educational methodologies of a multicultural nature based on the use of technologies. It is important to note that for the first time it is hosted outside a British environment and CEU UCH will be the physical headquarters as it will be hosted according to a hybrid model half way through in person and online.

‘Virtual exchange’ is a type of university education that allows students to take part in teams formed by students from different countries connected online to overcome a challenge or design a common project around a topic or common subject. Collaboration with students in different cultures, meeting digitally in simultaneous educational sessions such as the COIL (Collaborative International Learning), turn the different formats of virtual exchange into international education experiences without travelling abroad.

This forum will deal with 4 core areas: case studies, social impact and research, educational policies and personal experiences.

Universities and international entities founders of IVEC which currently are part of its Management Committee and that have appointed CEU Universities as organizers of its next congress are the US State University of New York, DePaul University of Chicago, University of Washington Bothell, Drexel University de Philadelphia and the East Carolina University; the Universidad de Monterrey in México; and the Durban University of Technology in South Africa along with two University International Organizations: UniCollaboration, the European tele-collaboration consortium; and FAUBAI, Brazilian Association for International Education.

Pioneers in Spain, bridge with Latin America

CEU Universities are pioneers in the implementation of this education in Spain. We have a high number of international students among our students and we encourage the immersion in innovative and international teaching methodologies such as the COILS becoming a reference.

It is also worth mentioning that the Assembly Room of CEU UCH will turn into the physical headquarters of this new IVEC 2022edition. For the Vice-Dean of Internationalization of the CEU UCH, Alfonso Díaz: «Our added value to be chosen as the next IVEC headquarters has been our role as pioneers in the implementation of the COIL in Spain and as bridge for the participation of Universities of Latin America in these activities”.

Over 700 international participants

It is expected that the IVEC 2022 Congress will gather next October over 700 participants from Universities worldwide in a hybrid format in a way that half of them will attend in person the sessions and the other half will be able to connect digitally. Among the attendants there will be professors, University managers and academic managers interested in promoting new multicultural educational methodologies through technology as well as students that will share their experience in the participation in this type of global and innovative education.
