Reasons to become a professional investigator

The field of investigation is one of the most attractive and satisfactory for people who form part of the scientific community. CEU Universities promote researching careers because they are essential for the progress of society and in particular, because is one of the cornerstones of CEU educational model.

These are only a few reasons for becoming a professional investigator:

  • It is a daily challenge: it is impossible to get bored; each day will be full of surprises and discoveries, doubts and verifications.
  • It helps develop critical thinking, giving importance to own ideas, to the possibility of implementing and demonstrating that they are valid.
  • Perseverance, insistence, hard work and autonomy will be acknowledged. With time you will acquire independence and you will be able to choose your projects, especially once you obtain your PhD.
  • You will be at the forefront of what happens in your sector both for the contact with the latest discoveries and for the interaction with other investigators. You will learn from veterans and will receive the motivation of those who come after you.
  • Training is continuous: attending congresses and courses is essential to be updated and for networking.
  • It is a task full of emotion: the possibility of discovering something or detecting it before anyone else is such a challenge that motivates you and is so satisfactory.
  • You will grow in creativity, imagination and flexibility: you will be able to understand what happens around you because your mind will open progressively, making of any minor activity something fun.
  • It is a difficult yet affordable challenge. Effort and perseverance are essential to really succeed and become and professional investigator, but it is worth it.
  • You can live in different countries, which is very enriching at all levels; you only have to master English.
  • You will work to improve the quality of life of people and to transform society.

A commitment to investigation and internationalization

CEU Universities consider the research activity as a thrust to develop the knowledge of the university centres themselves. In addition, it eases the fulfilment of one of the main purposes of the University. Therefore, with Research Institutes we support this activity both within the academic scope and private sector as well as with the dissemination of the outcome both at a national and international extent.

All this is achieved through CEINDO, the CEU International Doctoral School. It has a two-fold goal: training a group of investigators specialized in the different programs and creating and consolidating a network of international investigators.

To attain this two-fold goal and to make the students take part in relevant projects, the three CEU centres promote inter-university programs of doctorates and the collaboration with prestigious university institutions.
