In the next few years, market demand of professional profiles related to technologies show a significant growth as already being experimented.

According to a study by LinkedIn, artificial intelligence and data science positions increased 64% in 2020, same as the category of specialized engineering.

The increase of Big Tech has led to a steep increase of recruitments in many sectors from retailer sale to the financial, pharmacological or energetic sector. Therefore it is only normal that technological positions have seen a 38% growth during 2020 according to the study by LinkedIn. Another interesting fact is that design and development positions of videogames are two of the vacancies filled more quickly.

Engineering has also shown constant growth during the same years. In 2020, engineering positions increased in Spain 63% with Microsoft and IBM among the main recruiters.

As per this study “Spain has one of the best universities worldwide in the field of engineering and contributes with 90% of total recruitments requiring university studies”.

There we find ourselves with the need to attend from the educational field the increasing demand of students in degrees related to technologies.

How does university face the impact of advanced technologies? In its last edition, VIEWS the magazine of Alumni CEU reflects on this issue.

University/company in the development of technological skills

CEU is one of the education institutions pioneer in the development of technological skills and guaranteeing that the CVs of its students satisfy the needs of companies who wish to incorporate digital models to their structures.

This model of relationship between university and company comes with internships in first-level companies such as Generali, Everis, Enimbos, Capgemini and Fujitsu, companies that join in with internships or mentoring for students.

And of course with the creation of specialized degrees.

New CEU degrees

This year has started at CEU universities with several pioneer degrees such as the Program Cloud Computing in collaboration with AWS Educate or the first Degree in Artificial Intelligence, AI, in collaboration with Microsoft. Also new data science and advanced analytic subjects have been introduced taught with SAS®

VIVA® in some degrees.

New technological methodologies to connect students worldwide

As explained in the VIEWS’s article, education does not refer to degrees related to the technological field. In all faculties they develop learning experiences with the innovative methodology Collaborate Online International Learning (COIL), pioneer in interactive learning that, for several years already is gaining considerable presence in some of the most international universities worldwide. Through online education modules and programs, COIL brings the experience of global learning closer to a broader spectrum of students regardless of their geographical location.

This way the commitment to technological innovation and internationalization of universities is made clear.
