Young and international talent to conceive the future of Valencia

On the occasion of Valencia World Design Capital 2022, the Higher School of Technical Education (ESET) of Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera has moved to La Marina de València its CreaFest, the presentation of final projects of its under graduate and post graduate students in Design and Architecture from more than 20 different nationalities. The challenge proposed for this year by different subjects of its degrees has been the design of futuristic proposals for the city of Valencia of the next 30 years around Túria Gardens, that this year celebrate their 35th anniversary. Their urban proposals as well as product, graphic and interiors designs developed this year can be visited at La Base de La Marina de València until next July 15th

During the workshop “Connect.A VLC 2050!” CEU UCH architecture students have worked on the hypothesis of eliminating road traffic which at present surrounds the course of river Turia creating a “space for opportunity” between the actual course and adjacent architecture. In this futuristic exercise students have counted with the design of their proposals the direction of professors from different subjects and the counselling of architects from the international studio Kosmos, with headquarters in cities such as Zurich, Graz or New York.

Caring, resilient and green city

As a result of this activity, future architects raised at CEU UCH present in CreaFest different types of buildings that can be related to the river to create a more habitable and caring Valencia especially for children and elderly but also more sustainable, resilient, green and with greater biodiversity. As highlighted by our ESET Director at CEU UCH, Sara Barquero, “this methodology of looking to the future is based on the idea of the University as a research laboratory where making more utopic and creative proposals and where students can imagine all type of new scenarios and developments”.

The presentation of proposals by CEU UCH students at La Marina de València has counted with the presence of two professional studios invited: Ramon Esteve Studio and Ted’A Arquitectes. In the design and architecture studio Ramón Esteve, both disciplines are complementary and inseparable for the creation of “places nice to live in”. The team of Ted’A Arquitectes, based in Mallorca, formed by Jaume Mayol and Irene Pérez, has presented their philosophy about the use of local materials to reinforce the identity of the place through the repetition of construction elements of the territory.

Products and spaces for the future

CEU UCH CreaFest at La Marina also presents its innovative proposals of Graduate students in Product Development and Industrial Design Engineering Degree and postgraduate students of official University Masters in Design and Graphic Communication, Product Design and Interiors Design “In this sample they show a selection of products designed in different academic activities of the Degree in Industrial Design assembling all sorts of objects: hangers, skates, speakers, cutlery, all with real models made at ESET by CEU UCH Degree students and postgraduates in Design”, outstands our director Sara Barquero.

Among the projects developed in official postgraduates taught at ESET outstand projects on art management, visual communication, design foundations and packaging studies in the University Master in Design and Graphic Communication: temporary spaces, residential, hotels, offices and commercial of students of the University Master in Interiors Design and the projects of contract equipment in collaboration with AXALTA, mobility with Renault, the Valencian Association of the E-vehicle (AVVE) and ABERVIAN, or of furniture and packaging, work of the students of the University Master in Product Design of CEU UCH.

La Marina de València hosts the exhibition CreaFest with the creative proposals of ESET CEU UCH Architecture and Design students until next July 15th. A proof of the young and international talent raised in Valencia to respond to the urban and productive challenges of the future.
