Universitat Abat Oliba CEU celebrates its 50th anniversary next academic year

The academic year that begins (2023-24) is very special for Universitat Abat Oliba CEU, UAO. It celebrates its fiftieth anniversary; that is, half a century of CEU presence in Barcelona. First, as a University College and, subsequently, as a Higher Education Teaching Centre; in both cases, attached to the University of Barcelona. And it remained so until 2003, when the law recognising it as a private university was passed.

Throughout all these years, this University has differentiated itself through its values and individualised programmes developed specifically for students. Its educational excellence translates into an overall degree employability rate of 95.3%. The UAO has more than 4000 internship agreements with national and international companies.

Its international vision is another of its hallmarks, with 135 agreements with universities in more than 35 countries and 13 bilingual programmes.

Its campus has Faculties of: Law and Business, Communication, Education and Humanities and Faculty of Psychology.

Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU

Fifty years of existence and twenty years as a private university are more than enough reasons to celebrate. For the time being, this is the planned programme:

• 9 October 2023 – Inauguration of the academic year 2023-24. This will be the starting point of a year of celebrations.
• 9 October 2023 – Inauguration of the New Building, with the presence of the President of the CEU and Grand Chancellor of our university, Alfonso Bullón de Mendoza.
• 31 January 2024 – Celebration of the conversion of St. Paul. Presentation of the 50th anniversary book and exhibition.
• 25 April 2024 – A festive day of celebration for the entire university community.
• 23 May 2024 – Institutional event.
• June-July 2024 – Concert at the Sagrada Familia.
• 11 October 2024 – Concert by the Escolania de Montserrat in the Aula Magna. Closing of the year of celebration.
