Studying Artificial Intelligence, a door to employment

artificial intelligence (ai) and machine learning (ml)

Leaving aside the human debate against the machine what we can indeed foresee is that “Artificial Intelligence is going to be one of the most disruptive technologies in the next few years” as predicted by the Professor of Universidad CEU San Pablo, Ricardo Palomo, in this article of the magazine VIEWS by Alumni, the CEU Alumni community.

As mentioned in this article, a MIT-IBM Watson Lab report points out that “over 120 million employees worldwide will need to recycle in the next three years due to the impact of Artificial Intelligence on work positions”. A challenge which also translates into opportunities for new employments that will be assisted by Artificial Intelligence. “This means, that I am a doctor and use Artificial Intelligence, AI, to help me in the diagnosis, but there are other human features that machines don’t have and I will need to enhance them such as critical thinking and interrelation capacity” declares Palomo.

In this sense the debate on how to respond to digital revolution will be one of the most important discussions during the next years.

Artificial Intelligence, training is crucial

Here is when the education system comes into play as it will be the key to provide the appropriate tools to future and present generations through permanent training and new technologies.

Universidad CEU San Pablo wants to lead the educational race in this field, with the Degree in Sciences and Data Intelligence.

This program which is taught in the bilingual modality (Spanish-English) will set the grounds of your artificial intelligence learning through subjects such as Machine Learning, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, among others.

The Degree in Science and Data Engineering has three educational different itineraries: Artificial Intelligence, bioinformatics and corporate information systems. “At present all these itineraries present great demand at corporate level” describes in this article the assistant professor of the Higher Polytechnic School of Universidad CEU San Pablo, Javier Tejedor Noguerales.

The demand of data scientists and engineers grows

This same article states that according to the 2020 Emerging Jobs Report, the demand of a data scientists and engineers has increased 37% and 33% per year respectively in the last four years. “A graduate of this degree will be able to analyse data from multiple sources of information with other tasks more focused on the design and management of the necessary infrastructures for the support, management and storage of data which allow that subsequent analysis”.

To sum up, Artificial Intelligence and machine learning –which is part of AI- are changing the world we live in and having knowledge on these disciplines is a certain door to employment.

“Machine learning will help us solve the most important problems of these days; it will accelerate the discovery of drugs and vaccines, it will help us combat climate change in a more effective manner and will provide us with precise diagnosis in a personalized manner; robots and automated vehicles will become more common and the ways we move and work will change; finally it will also impact on arts and sports” thinks Constantino García, Coordinator of the Degree in Informatics Engineering of Universidad CEU San Pablo. In fact, he asserts that the future of Artificial Intelligence will be marked by machine learning.
