Programmes at the University that promote employability

Students from the six faculties and schools of USP CEU took part in the second edition of the EmpowerYOU programme, promoted by the University’s Careers Department and the Human Age Institute. The Human Age Institute is a non-profit initiative promoted by ManpowerGroup, which is already supported by over one thousand companies. It is the largest Talent and Sustainability initiative in Spain, with the aim of promoting talent as a driver of transformation in organisations and youth employability as a guarantee of development, as well as guiding organisations towards a sustainable future.

This mentoring itinerary was conceived and designed to accompany final-year students on their path to employment. With the help of Paula Rojas, Employability Advisor at the Human Age Institute, each participant drew up a personalised action plan, based on their own skills and aspirations. After this work of self-knowledge and preparation, the students faced mock interviews in real conditions with Human Resources consultants from Manpower Group.

The programme comes at a key moment for the students, who are about to finish their degree and are eager to enter the labour market with the best tools. Undoubtedly, the personalised advice provided by the EmpowerYOU programme will make a difference in their professional career.

Employability in the High Performance Programme

At the same time, the University held the second annual edition of the High Performance programme, promoted by the Careers department in collaboration with the Faculties and the Polytechnic School. This programme is designed to recognise students who have excelled throughout their careers at the University not only for their excellent academic results, but also for their values, leadership skills and soft skills.

In this edition, the selected students were welcomed by the Madrid Talento team, and discovered from them the different professional opportunities offered by public employment in Madrid City Council. After a general presentation, given by Antonio Sánchez Díaz, Director General of Human Resources Planning at the City Council and his team, the participants had the opportunity to have direct conversations with civil servants working in their area of study, thus broadening their range of possibilities when it comes to entering the job market.

The second session took place at the offices of The Adecco Group. Elena López Huerga, Employer Branding Manager and Nuria Hidalgo Romero, Bootcamp Director, led group dynamics and gamified tests, as an example of selection processes that students may face during their job search. They trained their teamwork, challenge solving and creativity skills in an academic environment and also received advice and answers to their doubts regarding the job search in the private market
